Storm Franklin caused damage to a small tree near to the path going from the Grange Road entrance to the park, towards the bowling green. It was tree number 507, a mountain ash or Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia)
The wind damage was evident early in the morning but by about 11 o’ clock the tree had completely gone and it appears the tree had suffered a degree of rot.
After speaking to a couple of the gardeners, I was told this tree had been dead for at least a couple of years.
